Chesterfield Borough Council has officially opened the new play area at Holmebrook Valley Park. Local children and parents were involved in designing the outdoor play area which features some of the latest play equipment for 8 years to 13 years old and a range of outdoor gym equipment for people of all ages and abilities. The play area is about 200 Metres West of the lower car park.
The Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Peter Barr, who opened the play area today (Tuesday 11th October 2011) said: “Today marks the culmination of 18 months hard work in securing funding, planning and building this great new play area. This eagerly awaited and much needed project will provide a safe and fun play environment for the children and young people of Holme Hall and Loundsley Green for many years to come.”
The launch was attended by children from two local schools plus Cllr Ray Russell from Derbyshire County Council and Cllr Dave Allan, support member for Environment at Chesterfield Borough Council.
Funding for the project came from Derbyshire County Council through the Department for Educations Playbuilder Initiative (£25k) and through Cllr Ray Russell via the Community Initiative Fund (£30k).
