Friends of Holmebrook Valley Park

The Friends group will be applying for funding again this year to improve another length of newly surfaced path. You can help by telling us which path in the park you think is in most need of attention. Let us have your views by email at fhvpgroup@gmail.com or meet us at the Pavilion on Saturday 10th March at 9.00 a.m. when we will be taking a walk round. Your comments will be most welcome.

It’s all happening in and around the pavilion at the moment – so come and have a look. The café is under new management so come and try some of Annette’s delicious delights. Internal alterations to the building have created a new multi-purpose room for community activities and functions. Meanwhile outside, the new children’s playground is nearing completion as well as the new boules pitch

Local students are helping to design and build a hillside mountain bike course in the woodland area at the Loundsley Green Road end of the park. If you would like to help with this project call the park rangers on 07973 522481

The Council is proposing to hold some major events in the park this summer including the annual Fairground, a human circus, and a summer fair. Dates will be confirmed later.

The Friends group is going to build a small exhibition to promote the park and the Friends group. This will be put on display in libraries, schools, community centres and at shows in the park. So if you are able to help with any photos or would like to help on the days with the exhibition – please let us know

Do you enjoy wildlife spotting? Have you seen any rare wild flowers in the park or scarce bird species? Please send us details of your sightings so that we can publish them on the website

Don’t forget – if you want to come and get muddy – join in our Big Spring Stream Clean on Saturday 17th March. Meet at the Pavilion at 9.00a.m. Between us we can make a big difference in cleaning up the Holme Brook and downstream to Loundsley Green and Brockwell. All welcome. Don’t forget your wellies! Start and finish at the park café.

The next meeting of Friends of Holmebrook Valley Park will be held at the Nags Head pub, Newbold Road on Wednesday 14th March 2012 at   7.00 p.m. All welcome
